Many people buy good boards, but in the process of customizing furniture, they ignore the step of edge sealing. In winter, the edge sealing process of boards in furniture production is often affected by temperature and there are some problems. Edge collapse and degumming: appropriately increase the edge sealing speed to avoid the hot melt adhesive being exposed to the cold air for too long. Both hot melt adhesives and edge strips are greatly affected by temperature. The lower the temperature, the easier cold shrinkage will occur, which will further harden as the temperature decreases, and generate internal stress at the bonding interface. When the impact force of the slotting tool acts on the bonding interface, the internal stress is released, causing edge chipping or debonding.

To deal with this problem, you can start from the following points:

1. Edge collapse, mostly caused by the brittle edge, replace the edge seal with strong toughness under low temperature conditions.

2. Use hot melt adhesive with strong penetration, strong adhesion and good toughness.

3. Open the groove immediately after sealing.

4.The surface is properly heated,and the surface temperature of the edge banding strip reaches 20℃-40℃ before grooving.

5. Use products with good cold resistance.

Drawing: In winter, the temperature difference between indoor temperature and outdoor temperature is large, and air convection will change the temperature environment, which is more prone to "drawing" problems (when sealing edges with transparent glue).In addition, if the temperature is too high (low), or the amount of glue applied is too large, there may also be a "drawing" situation.It is recommended to adjust the temperature according to the temperature and the condition of the edge banding machine.

To sum up, please follow the steps below when the edge sealing falls off or the bonding effect is unsatisfactory in winter:

1. Measure the temperature of the coating wheel (above 180°C).

2. Check whether there is precipitation at the bottom of the glue tank (normal heat).

3. Check whether the heating tube is working normally (normal heating).

4. The temperature is increased by 10℃-20℃.

5. Increase the amount of glue applied.

6. Increase the pressure.

7. Improve the working speed of the edge banding machine.

8. Check whether the edge sealing and coating are qualified, and replace the edge sealing strips of different product colors or batches for testing.

9. Mix or replace products with low softening point and low viscosity.

10. Mix or replace products with better cold resistance. Fast production speeds, while reducing the amount of glue applied will result in insufficient hot melt adhesive strength.
