How Does An Edge Banding Machine Work?

Its main function is to firmly stick the edge banding strips (PVC, veneer, ABS and other materials) on the edge of the board, so as to make it beautiful, moisture-proof and durable. Working principle of edge banding machine

The edge banding machine completes the gluing, laminating, compacting, trimming and polishing of edge banding materials through a series of automated processes. The main process is as follows:

1.Automatic feeding

The operator puts the board at the feed port, and the machine feeds it into each process through the conveyor belt.

2.Gluing and wedging

The hot melt adhesive is melted by the heating device and evenly applied to the edge of the board or the edge banding, and then the edge banding is attached to the edge of the board.

3.Lamination

A group of pressure rollers pressurize the edge banding to make it fit tightly with the board.

4.Front and rear alignment

Cut off the excess edge banding at the front and rear of the board to align it with the board.

5.Rough & Fine Trimming

Use different types of tools to trim the excess edge banding smoothly and make a natural transition with the edge of the board.

6.Scraping (chamfering)

Remove the fine burrs on the surface of the edge banding to make the edge smoother.

7.Polishing

Finally, use a cloth wheel or a polishing wheel to polish the edge to make it smooth and beautiful.

Classification of edge banding machines

There are several types of edge banding machines according to their functions and degree of automation:

Manual edge banding machine: suitable for small factories or maintenance sites, simple to operate.

Semi-automatic edge banding machine: requires manual board placement and adjustment, but some processes are automated.
