Q: Can this machine cut standard solid wood or MDF?
A: No. The hot wire machine is exclusively designed to melt low-melting-point foams like EPS and EPP. It cannot cut wood, plastic, or metal. (Please view our Wood CNC Router series for those materials).
Q: How do you cut tapered shapes (like a cone) on this machine?
A: Using the Mach3 or NC Studio software, you can control the X and Y axes independently. By moving one side of the wire at a different speed or distance than the other, the machine easily executes 3D tapered and conical cuts.
Q: Is the computer included with the DSP system?
A: No. The DSP control system uses a standalone offline handheld controller, so it does not require a computer to be attached to the machine. However, if you choose the Mach3 or NC Studio system, we will provide the computer together with the machine.
