A Note Before We Begin

Not every client comes to us with a complicated situation. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is listen carefully, ask the right questions, and make sure the machine we recommend is genuinely matched to what the client actually does — not what we assume they do.

Our Lithuanian client in June 2026 was exactly that kind of conversation. Clear requirements, specific materials, defined sheet sizes, and one concern that went beyond the machine itself: what happens after it arrives?

Here is how that conversation became a successful project.

1. The Client's Situation: Clear Requirements, One Critical Concern

The client operates a fabrication workshop in Lithuania. Their production is focused but varied:

Primary work: Acrylic cuttingThe core of their daily production is cutting 20mm thick acrylic sheet — a demanding material that requires both cutting power and thermal management. Acrylic at 20mm thickness is not a job for an underpowered spindle. Too little torque means slow feed rates, heat buildup, and melted or chipped edges. Getting the spindle specification right was the most important technical decision in this project.

Secondary work: Relief engravingThe client also performs 3D relief engraving on an occasional basis — decorative panels, custom signage, and artistic woodwork. While not their primary volume activity, it is a meaningful part of their product offering and needed to be supported by the machine configuration.

Sheet size requirements confirmed:The client provided specific minimum and maximum board dimensions — a detail that matters for fixture planning, vacuum or clamping setup, and confirming that the machine's 1300mm × 2500mm working area covered their full range without repositioning.

The concern that shaped the entire conversation:Beyond the technical specifications, the client was explicit about their primary worry: after-sales service. They had seen other workshops in their region purchase machines from overseas suppliers and then find themselves without support when questions arose — no documentation in a usable format, no responsive technical contact, no practical guidance for operators who had never used a CNC router before.

They were not asking for a vague promise. They wanted to know specifically: what will you actually provide, and when?

We answered that question in detail. And then we delivered on it.

2. The Configuration: Why We Specified 7.5KW Water-Cooled Spindle + Full Servo Motors + Pressure Roller

The CX-1325 platform is the foundation. But the configuration we recommended for this client was specifically engineered around their primary material — 20mm acrylic — and their secondary requirement for occasional relief engraving.

7.5KW Water-Cooled Spindle — The Right Power for 20mm Acrylic

This was the most important specification decision in the project, and it required a clear explanation to the client.

Why not the standard 3KW spindle?A 3KW spindle can cut acrylic — but at 20mm thickness, it must do so at reduced feed rates to avoid overloading the motor. Slow feed rates on acrylic create a specific problem: the bit dwells longer in the cut, generating more heat, which causes the acrylic to soften and re-weld behind the cutting edge. The result is rough, melted cut faces that require significant post-processing — or outright scrap on precision pieces.

Why 7.5KW?The 7.5KW water-cooled spindle provides the cutting force to maintain high feed rates through 20mm acrylic — moving the bit through the material fast enough that heat does not accumulate at the cut face. The result is clean, smooth acrylic edges that require minimal or no post-processing.

Water cooling is essential for this application. Acrylic cutting at production speeds generates sustained spindle heat. Water cooling maintains stable spindle temperature across long cutting sessions, protecting the spindle bearings and maintaining consistent cutting performance throughout the shift.

For the occasional relief engraving work, the 7.5KW spindle provides more than sufficient torque for deep 3D carving on wood and MDF — with the water cooling ensuring the spindle can transition from a full-day acrylic cutting run to an engraving session without any thermal recovery time.

Full Servo Motor System — Precision That Closes the Loop

The standard CX-1325 configuration uses stepper motors — reliable and cost-effective for many applications. For this client, we recommended upgrading to a full servo motor system for two specific reasons:

Closed-loop position feedback: Servo motors continuously report their actual position back to the controller. If the motor encounters resistance — from a dense section of acrylic, a knot in wood, or a rapid direction change — the controller detects any deviation and corrects it in real time. Stepper motors, by contrast, operate open-loop: if they lose steps under load, the machine does not know, and the error accumulates silently in the workpiece.

For 20mm acrylic cutting: Thick acrylic generates significant lateral cutting forces, particularly during profiling passes. Full servo drives ensure that these forces do not translate into positional errors — the cut follows the programmed path precisely, regardless of material resistance variations.

For relief engraving: 3D relief work requires smooth, continuous interpolation across all three axes simultaneously. Servo motors provide the acceleration and deceleration smoothness that produces glass-like 3D surface finishes — the difference between a relief carving that looks machined and one that looks crafted.

Pressure Roller — Secure Material Hold for Full-Sheet Acrylic

The pressure roller is a practical addition that directly addresses a common challenge with large-format acrylic cutting: sheet movement during cutting.

Acrylic sheet at 20mm thickness has significant mass. During profiling passes — particularly when cutting internal contours or near sheet edges — cutting forces can cause the sheet to shift if it is not held securely. The pressure roller applies consistent downward force across the sheet surface, working in conjunction with the aluminum T-slot table's mechanical clamping to keep the workpiece absolutely stable throughout the cut.

For a client whose primary production is 20mm acrylic, this is not an optional accessory. It is a core component of cut quality and dimensional consistency.
